Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) can rob you of much needed sleep and can leave you exhausted. Pain may keep you up at night but it may also keep you from staying asleep. Once pain keeps you up one night, it will continue to be a problem and it may turn into insomnia over time.
The National Sleep Foundation reports that two out of every three people with chronic pain have trouble sleeping at night. The lack of good quality sleep affects quality of life more than pain does.
Have you had sleep issues related to arthritis pain? Have you discussed these with your doctor? How has the lack of sleep affected your quality of life?
