Brain Fog

I am kinda curious if anyone has "brain fog?" Seems like most days I feel like I am walking around with a fuzzy head. My memory seems to be fading. I will lay my phone down and not even 5 mins later I can't find it. I do that at least 5-6 times a day. I can't remember things my husband tells me. It seems as if my short term memory is going away. Is this a common thing with RA?

Did someone ask something…? I look back over a day and feel like I was sleeping and dreaming. The fibro fog or brain fog or whatever is annoying at best. I can suddenly realize my hubby or someone is talking straight on to me and I can't focus. I didn't even know he was talking to me. I to am using notes. Stickys abound thru my home. Front door posts are critical. I email hubby any apps I send or important info. That way either one of us remembers or two of us forget :-)

What? Oh yes "fog". We all get it. I like to think that after so many years on the planet all that information stored in our brain gets crowded. It takes a bit to find the right "file cabinet". My son used to worry me that it was Altzheimers but a trip to my Family Dr was reassuring.

I have a fold open calendar on the kitchen table 24/7 WITH a pen attached by a string. It has saved me so many times. Hubs hates to write down appointments but after missing two he has now joined the club! Re the fog…I prefer to think of my brain already on vacation lol

Oh yes, I definitely get brain fog. It used to be really bad right after I would take my methotrexate, but now it hits whenever…usually during a flare.

Yes, definitely! Most people with RA report brain fog – some related to the disease and others to the meds we take. I also have fibromyalgia so me and brain fog are constant companions. I also struggle to remember things and often my mind feels cloudy. I can drive to the same place daily but when the brain fog kicks in, I manage to get lost. Sometimes, I am at loss for words because my mind and my mouth aren’t moving at the same pace. I try to cope by keeping lists and calendars. I use email instead of making phone and I also use flags and reminders with my email programs. I try to keep a steady sleep schedule, I work to avoid excess sugar and caffeine and I take my meds as prescribed.
